Not to Wish for Others What One Does Not Wish for One’s Self

“Wish not for others what ye wish not for yourselves” 1

“Tenth leaf … Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself.” 2


Babi Dispensation

The Bab required that a believer not to accept for himself what he does not accept for others. See Persian Bayan, Wahid VIII, Chapter XII & Arabic Bayan Wahid X, Chapter XVIII.


Islamic Dispensation

“They prefer them before themselves, though poverty be their own lot. And with such as are preserved from their own covetousness shall it be well.” 3


Christian Dispensation

“Whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them.” 4


Jewish Dispensation

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” 5
