Penalizing whoever causes sadness to his neighbour

“… A fine of nineteen mithqals of gold had formerly been prescribed by Him Who is the Lord of all mankind for anyone who was the cause of sadness to another; in this Dispensation, however, He hath absolved you thereof and exhorteth you to show forth righteousness and piety...” 1

A fine … had formerly been prescribed … for anyone who was the cause of sadness to another
Baha’u’llah abrogates the law of the Persian Bayan concerning the payment of a fine in reparation for causing sadness to one’s neighbor.” 2



Babi Dispensation

The Bab decreed a monetary fine for anyone who grieves another. 3
